Curriculum the first year of the program will be oriented to the development of general clinical and laboratory skills during this period each nuclear medicine physicians in training nmpit will receive approximately 80 hours of didactic training in physics radiobiology instrumentation dosimetry radiopharmacy and in vivo and in vitro clinical nuclear medicine. Nuclear medicine objectives for the first year resident a checklist and assigned responsibility list is attached a knowledge base 1 basic science and instrumentation 2 pathophysiology of diseases 3 radiation safety and protection 4 indications patient preparation of nuclear medicine procedures b technical skills 1. The residency program includes comprehensive training in nuclear medicine physics comprised of a course and rounds the physics course is full year 10 academic credits and includes lectures on radiation interaction imaging principles and instrumentation dosimetry and safety licencing. You may successfully complete one year of training in a nuclear radiology fellowship program or one year of training in a nuclear medicine residency program accredited by the acgme or the rcpsc canada alternatively with prior approval you may successfully complete the abr 16 month pathway in nuclear radiology.
